This week, my group also presented our Smartboard presentations. For the most part, it went well, but I personally dislike the way the Smartboard program works. It's very cool to have an interactive dimension to learning and I will definitely continue to use it because I want to take advantage of that interactive learning. However, the program is very slow on my computer (it makes everything lag and, on occasion, freeze), you can only resize objects in one corner, it doesn't give you the full screen and I have to scroll around. So, I am not a huge fan of it. When giving presentations, I will probably stick to Powerpoint for giving information and only use the Smartboard when I have an activity I want the students to interact with.
I don't ever remember getting an in-depth and specific lecture about internet safety, online respect, and intellectual copyright. The most I ever got as a student was the lecture about not giving out names and addresses. But, I think that it is important to be teaching students about how to behave and act on the internet, especially in this modern world where we use computers and internet for just about everything. Just because a school puts up a filter or a block doesn't mean that the student won't accidentally stumble across anything.
