There are also downfalls to blogging, but like anything in life, there are cons that come with the pros. This big one is the issue of privacy which is something that people are very concern about these days. We think that we’re being safe, but at times, personal information can be collected and used without your knowledge. Sometimes, it’s scary how much they know about us. However, as an educator (or someone who soon will be), we have to have make it known that students should a) never give out full names, addresses, self-photographs, phone numbers, etc. b) be conscious of what kind of information they are posting (is it a valid opinion/point or is it gossip? which one is inappropriate and why) c) always know who they're communicating with.
However, if blogging, like all other teaching tools, is used correctly, I think that the benefits are very rewarding to both the teacher and the student.
